Podere le Caggiole

Podere le Caggiole are organically farmed wines made by the Tiberini Family.

Today the company has about 22 hectares of land of which 16.5 vineyards and olive groves in 2 places at an altitude of 310 m. s.l.m. on the gentle hills of Montepulciano down towards the Chiana Valley, in the area that has always been defined as one of the beating hearts of the production of Vino Nobile di Montepulciano. Caggiole was cultivated since ancient times the grapevine.  Some of the vineyards of the estate are among the oldest and most important of Montepulciano, but still intact and in full force to give us our best wines. In recent years, Podere Le Caggiole has experienced important changes, which led him to be a dynamic and attentive to the global community.

Today at Podere Le Caggiole we live and work, convinced that they to keep the path traced by those who preceded us, rest assured that the love for our land and its features never end, but with an eye toward the future and toward the goal of highest quality.

Bianco, IGT Toscana

GRAPES:   Malvasia Bianca 80%, Vermentino 10%, Pulcinculo 10%

Aging: After a brief period of rest static and aging in stainless steel drums, which naturally extends the clarity of color and its stability, it is bottled and left to stand for a short period of aging in glass. 

Tasting notes: The scents are net, reminiscent of exotic fruits, but maintain the territorial character of the grapes used. The taste is pleasant and good persistence in the mouth, is supported by a balanced acidity that keeps the character fresh and well balanced.

Rosso, IGT Toscana

GRAPES:   Prugnolo Gentile 85%, Canaiolo Nero 15%

Aging:  After a brief period of rest, and 4 months of aging in oak barrels of second and third passage, is bottled and left to stand for a short period of aging in the glass.

Tasting notes:  The color is a ruby blunt, with a good purple reflections. The scents are net, reminiscent of red fruit, cherry, some notes of pepper, but strong and well you hear the call to leg Monaca, plum native of Montepulciano, which is characteristic in each of our wines. The taste is strong and good persistence in the mouth, is supported by a balanced acidity that keeps the character fresh, whole round and well balanced.

Rosso di Montepulciano, DOC

GRAPES:  Prugnolo Gentile 90%, Canaiolo Nero e Mammolo 10%

Aging:  Once the fermentation, after a period of rest static, the wine is passed in French Allier oak barrels for 8-10 months and then left to rest in stainless steel drums at a controlled temperature. After the bottling and a further period of approximately 6 months of bottle aging, the wine is sold. 

Tasting notes: It is brilliant and limpid to the eye, with a composite ruby red colour with a purple touch. To the olfactory senses it offers a fine intensity and fragrance, in which can be recognized the scents of small red fruits (redcurrant and cherry) with a light touch of “Coscia di Monaca”, the typical plum of Montepulciano,and can be detected a light trace of spices. On analysis by taste, the wine appears harmonious and round, with good strenght and an evident acidity, which contributes to freshness.

Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, DOCG

GRAPES:  Prugnolo Gentile 90%, Canaiolo Nero 5%, Mammolo 5%.

Aging: French oak, for a period of about 32 months, with the sole purpose of enhancing the territorial peculiarities of our Podere Le Caggiole. Subsequently, the wine is bottled and placed in aging in glass, for a period that will last at least 6 months before being put on the market. 

Tasting notes: Visually it has a ruby red colour, tending to garnet, with a lively violet touch, and an intense bouquet of ripe red fruit with a slight scent of “Coscia di Monaca”, the typical plum of Montepulciano, present in all our wines. In its odour can be detected a light trace of spices, tobacco and burned leather. The taste is fullbodied and powerful, round, with a hint of tannin.

Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, DOCG,  Riserva Vigneto Campaccio

GRAPES: PRUGNOLO GENTILE 90%, CANAIOLO NERO 5%, MAMMOLO 5%.

Aging:  The maturation of wine took place in 500 liter French oak barrels of different origins (Allier and Vosges) for about 44 months, without marking the wine with hints of wood, and with the sole purpose of enhancing the territorial peculiarities of our Vineyard Campaccio. The wine is laid to rest in stainless steel tanks. The wine is then bottled and aging in place, which will last at least 10 months before being put on the market.

Tasting Notes:  This wine represents the character of our land and of this special vineyard, according to our wine-producing conception that want respect the territory, and proposing the particular results of a land in wich there is the cultivation of the vine from thousand years. Vino Nobile Riseva Vigneto Campaccio is ruby red in colour tending to garnet, with violet tints. the smells are of wild ripe red berries, with a slight scent of “Coscia di Monaca”, the typical plum of Montepulciano that is present in all our wines, and in its odour can be detected a light trace of spices, tobacco and black pepper. The taste is fullbodied and robust, round, well-balanced, with a hint of tannin and important acidity.
